About Me

Your trusted local builder

I'm Joel from Lamont Building. I've been building under my own name since 2021.

I'm living and working in Tauranga after moving north from Southland in early 2025. Over the last decade I've worked on a wide range of projects, from retaining walls and decks on Stewart Island, to prefabs in Milford Sound, to a 300 square metre solo new build for my parents in 2023.

I'm qualified since 2019 and have been a licensed building practitioner since 2021. Outside of building I enjoy running, hiking, paddle-boarding, and serving my local church. In 2024 I spent four months in Brazil supporting a missionary team with my building skills.
